Strengthening EU–LAC Ties: EULAS Roundtable Paves the Way to the 2025 EU–CELAC Summit
16/06/25, 10:00
In June, the EULAS Network hosted a very enriching roundtable on EU–LAC relations in the lead-up to the 2025 EU–CELAC Summit.
Organized by our Network in collaboration with the Consulate General of Ecuador in Barcelona, the event brought together prominent voices from the academic, diplomatic, and political spheres to reflect on the strategic ties between Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean.
With opening remarks from Jacint Jordana (IBEI), Patricio Javier Garcés Ramírez (Consul of Ecuador in Barcelona), and Andrea C. Bianculli (Coordinator of EULAS, Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals), the event paved the way for a deep discussion on regional integration, cooperation, and the challenges on the horizon.
Our expert panel featured:
Adrian Bonilla (FLACSO Ecuador; former Director of the EU-LAC Foundation)
Anna Ayuso (CIDOB – Barcelona Centre for International Affairs)
Ramon Torrent (Obreal Global Observatory)
Andrea C. Bianculli (Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals)
Moderated by Tamara Live, Vice Consul of Ecuador in Barcelona, the debate explored the evolution of EU–LAC cooperation, emphasizing the importance of shared values, sustainable development, and strategic commitment in the lead-up to the 2025 Summit.
Many thanks to everyone who joined us, both in person and online, and to our partners for making this important space for dialogue possible.
Co-organized by the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Ecuador in Barcelona.
