About the event

We are witnessing a breakdown of the world order established after the fall of the Iron Curtain. The liberal order is exhausted, and the world is deglobalizing. As a "New South" (Asia) emerges, the Global North disengages (militarising its borders and protecting its markets). In this new multifaceted world , the BRICS are seeking prominence, multilateralism and supranational organisations are weakening, and the rivalry between the US and China seems to be reviving the Cold War.
It is urgent to discuss how Latin America positions itself in the current geopolitical landscape. How can Latin America participate in the process of global realignment and avoid the risk of moving from “periphery” to “marginality” and becoming an “absolute South”? What are the consequences of the fact that the liberal order has failed to deliver on its promises of leading Latin American societies to greater prosperity and well-being?
